FAQs

  • Are you USDA certified?
    • Our meat is inspected by state or federal inspectors.
  • Are your products organic?
    • We put a lot of energy into raising our beef in a method that mimics nature.  Grazing animals were meant to be constantly on the move grazing on diverse pastures and followed by other animals, like birds, that cleaned up after them.  This method builds top soil over the years, improves soil fertility and increases biodiversity.  For example, last winter for the first time in my life we had a herd of elk come down onto the farm to graze on our winter stockpile.  I have met some of the founders of the organic certification and have tremendous respect for what they wanted to accomplish. So while we are not certified organic, we strive to emulate their examples by farming in a regenerative fashion.
  • Do the products come frozen or fresh?
    • Our beef is frozen as soon as it is vacuum sealed to improve its longevity.  That’s why we warranty our meat for 3 years.
  • Do you deliver instead of ship?
    • Whenever possible we love to deliver our meat. It’s not always possible to get away from the farm. So most of the time we will ship your meat in an insulated box with dry ice to keep it cold while in transit. We ship every Tuesday.
  • Can I pick up the package instead of having it shipped to me?
    • Yes, just let us know and we’ll have your order ready to go.
  • Can I tour your farm?
    • Yes, we welcome visits any time and everyone that has come loves how friendly our cows are.  Let us know ahead of time and we’ll try to schedule your visit so we can step away from our work to help show you around.
  • What kind of guarantee do you have if I don’t like the product?
    • We guarantee our product for 3 years after you purchase it. If you're not 100% satisfied at any time let us know and we’ll refund you for the unsatisfactory meat or replace it at no cost to you.
  • Do I need to freeze the products upon arrival?
    • Your meat will come frozen and should be kept frozen until you're no more than a week away from using it.  Then just stick it in the fridge to thaw. If you need to thaw your meat quickly, a bowl of warm/hot water is my favorite method.
  • How do I know if it’s gone bad?
    • If your meat has a slimy film on it, then it’s likely well on it’s way to molding.  Also if it doesn’t smell right then don’t eat it.
  • What is the “shelf life” of your product?
    • Vacuum sealed meat should be good for 2-3 years in the freezer without getting freezer burn or a noticeable change in taste.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    • We accept all major forms of payment including Venmo and PayPal.
  • Can you charge my credit/debit card for me or do I have to use a third party processor?
    • We can charge your credit or debit card.
  • Do you accept returns? On what conditions?
    • We do accept returns and on the condition that you're not 100% satisfied.
  • Are there exceptions to returns?
    • Be respectful and we’ll bend over backwards for you.
  • Do you take phone calls or do you only do business in person or via email?
    • We want to be as easy to reach as possible. You're welcome to call, Facebook message, email, text, or drop by. See our Contact us page for contact details.
  • Are there changes to regular processing or shipping time during certain dates? (Christmas time, Mother’s Day...etc.) and what are the expectations of the processing/shipping time during those dates?
    • We do most of our shipping on Tuesdays, so some Federal holidays can interfere with shipping on some years. We always strive to make sure you receive your order within 3 days of shipping.
  • How do you deal with expedited requests? Is there a charge for rushed orders? Who is the shipping through and what are the expectations of delivery times?
    • We don’t want to say we’ll never expedite shipping, and it may cost more money, but if you need something right away you can come pick it up.
  • Shipping - What will you do if something happens to the item in transit? Do you offer insurance or is it already covered in the shipping price?
    • If something happens to your meat in transit, please let us know as quickly as you can and we’ll take care of it with as little inconvenience to you as possible.
  • How do things normally get shipped? (Shipping service, way you package)
    • We ship in brown boxes using cardboard and/or cornstarch insulation and dry ice. That way the entire shipping package is compostable.  We generally use UPS for shipping.
  • Do you accept custom orders/bundles?
    • If you would like something specific, let us know and we’ll get it put together for you.
  • How quickly do you ship once the order has been placed?
    • We ship every Tuesday unless a Federal holiday interferes with UPS or USPS.
  • I’m purchasing your item as a gift, can you leave the invoice out or Add a handwritten note in the box?
    • Yes, contact us directly about your order and let us know what you would like..
  • How do I contact you if I have other questions?
  • What are your business hours?
    • We farm full time, so generally, sun up to sun down and sometimes middle of the night.
  • How long do you take to return messages/calls?
    • We will try to get back to you immediately. Worst case, within 24 hours.
  • What is the typical turnaround time?
    • Since most of our shipments are done on Tuesdays, it depends on when you order. Once a package is shipped it should arrive in 1-3 days.
  • Do you offer samples?
    • Yes we do, we offer seasonal samplers on our website. They can range from 1-10lbs.
  • Do you do wholesale or discounts?
    • When buying our cow share collection the more you buy the less per pound the price is. Pre-ordering meat has the biggest savings. We often offer general gift cards that customers can use during checkout, those are usually given out during our emails.
  • Can I get a discount if I buy more?
    • In our Cow Share collection, customers can buy quarters, halves, or a whole cow. The dollar/pound is a bit less than other bundles.
